About the book: The Mystery of Quiet Time
I believe that quiet time is the secret of a victorious Christian daily life. Observation shows that Christians who fail in this, soon grow cold and backslide. Christians who persevere in quiet time grow steadily in the Lord.
“Abraham got up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the Lord” (Genesis 19:27). Abraham is an excellent example of someone who had a quiet time on a daily basis. Note the following:
a. He got up early in the morning: This is an excellent Christian practice
b. He had a special place to meet God
c. He did this daily, not occasionally
d. He stood before the Lord, waiting for the Lord to speak to him.
“But grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour” (2Peter 3:18).
The plants require air, water, sun and minerals to grow. Our physical body requires food, air and exercise to grow. Likewise our spiritual body needs nourishment – constant fellowship with God. David said; “My voice shall thou hear in the morning O’ Lord, in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee and I will look” (Psalm 5:3).
Quite time is time to look unto God for guidance, protection and provision. Looking unto God is a sign of total dependence on God, and those that look unto God will not be put to shame. From today shame is far from you!
The quiet time also affords an opportunity for systematic Bible study and prayer. Please make the most of your quiet time.
